The Chamber Coalition for Health Care Solutions' principal goal is to support quality, accessible, and affordable health care for employers and their employees. The coalition supports:

• Small Business Health Plans (SBHPs) that would allow small businesses to band together to negotiate lower premiums. The U.S. House approved H.R. 525 (SBHP legislation, also known as Association Health Plans/AHPs) last July. In 2006, the focus shifts to the Senate where the coalition will work to secure passage.
• Expanding Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to make them more consumer friendly and encourage their use.
• Passing medical liability reform that among other things caps punitive damages that are cost drivers to health insurance premiums. Without such reforms, doctors, particularly in special fields of medicine, will continue to be pushed out of practice due to skyrocketing medical malpractice insurance premiums.
• Medicare reforms that support appropriate levels of reimbursement for hospitals, promote pay for performance for doctors, modernize the care provided through a prescription drug benefit, and preserve the overall solvency of the program.
• Encouraging the funding and implementation necessary to bring about an information technology revolution to the entire health care industry.
