The following public policy statement has been developed for your chamber to adopt. By doing so, your chamber will join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and chambers from across the country in working together on behalf of our collective members to promote international trade in order to keep the American economy competitive.

The United States , one of the most competitive economies in the world, often has little or no access to other markets where many American products could be sold. Since 96% of the world's consumers live outside U.S. borders, reducing trade barriers is critical to growing domestic prosperity. In addition, expanding international trade saves American consumers money and provides a greater variety of products. The TradeRoots Coalition consists of businesses, associations, local Chambers of Commerce, and various other individuals who believe in and support the principles of free trade. The TradeRoots Coalition is managed through the U.S. Chamber and called to action on multiple levels when crucial trade legislation is in Congress. The mission of the coalition is to increase policymakers' awareness of the benefits of international trade to businesses and governments of all levels.

The __________________________ Chamber of Commerce recognizes that trade helps America and the world grow. To secure America 's future, the Chamber supports legislative action that:

• Supports Trade Promotion Authority
• Supports negotiating and implementing free trade agreements with various countries.
• Eliminates tariffs in new and existing markets
• Reduces non-tariff barriers to trade such as measurement standards and labeling requirements.
• Ensures that labor laws are upheld
• Protects intellectual property rights and takes action against piracy.
